Victorian Girls High School opened its gate to the first two students in the first term the year 2009. The idea of a girl’s school was conceived by the founding director Abraham Njenga Gachegua and Sarah Wambui.
This was the fact that when girls completed their primary school and a large number went to day schools, a large number faced the challenge of getting into the wrong company due to peer pressure as most of the parents are unavailable to provide directions.
The teen pregnancy rate had become a real threat and exposure to drugs almost a crisis. He envisioned an environment where the girls would learn at the same time be provided with parental guidance a home away from home.
The school was to be an enclosed environment but all facilities needed to make learning fun and enjoyable.
The school was fully registered by the ministry of education after a full inspection. It started with a total of 13 people among them 6 teachers and 7 subordinates.
Unlike most private schools where the return is the key, Victorian girls was to accommodate students from the lower income groups and give them an opportunity to sample quality education. Hence, the school fee was and remains affordable.
It has grown throughout the years both in academic achievement and is recognized as a center of talents. Students have been recognized as the most discipline in Ruiru Sub County.
